My Approach to Therapy
My work is grounded in trauma-informed, evidence-based therapy. I draw from several therapeutic approaches and tailor each session to your goals, needs, and nervous system, rather than using a one-size-fits-all model. Therapy that meets you where you are — and helps you move forward.
-
EMDR is a trauma-focused therapy that helps the brain reprocess distressing memories so they no longer feel overwhelming in the present. It is especially effective for trauma, PTSD, anxiety, and negative core beliefs rooted in past experiences.
-
Brainspotting is a body-based therapy that works with the nervous system to access and process trauma stored below conscious awareness. It can be helpful when talking alone hasn’t brought relief and is often used for trauma, chronic stress, and emotional overwhelm.
-
Somatic therapy focuses on how stress and trauma live in the body. Sessions may include mindfulness, body awareness, and gentle regulation techniques to help calm the nervous system and restore a sense of safety and balance.
-
IFS helps you understand and heal the different “parts” of yourself that hold emotions, beliefs, and protective strategies. This approach is especially supportive for inner conflict, self-criticism, relationship patterns, and trauma recovery.
-
Walk & Talk therapy combines movement with traditional therapy, offering sessions outdoors while walking at a comfortable pace. This can feel more grounding and natural for some clients and may help reduce anxiety while supporting emotional processing.
-
ACT helps you build psychological flexibility by learning to relate differently to thoughts and emotions rather than trying to eliminate them. The focus is on values-based living, self-compassion, and creating meaningful change.
-
CBT is a structured, evidence-based approach that helps identify and shift unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors. It is commonly used for anxiety, depression, stress, and practical problem-solving.
-
DBT focuses on developing skills for emotional regulation, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, and mindfulness. It can be helpful for intense emotions, relationship challenges, and feeling stuck in reactive patterns.
Therapy is not one-size-fits-all. I integrate these approaches based on your goals, needs, and nervous system, rather than following a rigid model.
-
Persistent worry, racing thoughts, or a constant sense of being “on edge.” Therapy can help you understand anxiety patterns, calm your nervous system, and respond to stress with more ease and flexibility.
-
Feeling exhausted, numb, or emotionally maxed out—often after long periods of pushing through. Therapy offers space to slow down, reset, and reconnect with your needs and capacity.
-
Support for focus, emotional regulation, overwhelm, and burnout. Therapy can help you better understand your brain, develop sustainable strategies, and reduce shame around productivity and motivation.
-
Support through changes such as career shifts, relationship changes, identity exploration, or major life decisions. Therapy can help you navigate uncertainty with clarity and self-trust.
-
Patterns of overfunctioning, self-criticism, or prioritizing others at the expense of yourself. Therapy helps loosen these patterns and build a more compassionate relationship with yourself.
-
Exploring how early relationships shape current dynamics, boundaries, and emotional responses. Therapy can support healthier connection, communication, and self-understanding.
-
Experiences that continue to affect how you feel, relate, or see yourself—sometimes long after the event has passed. Trauma-informed therapy supports healing at a pace that feels safe and empowering.
-
Feeling stuck in fight-or-flight, shutdown, or emotional reactivity. Somatic and nervous-system-informed approaches help restore a sense of safety, regulation, and resilience.
I work with adults who are feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected — often while still managing careers, relationships, and responsibilities. Many of my clients appear “high-functioning” on the outside, yet feel exhausted, anxious, or emotionally overloaded on the inside.
Therapy offers a space to slow down, understand what’s happening beneath the surface, and move forward with more clarity, self-trust, and balance.
